How can this be...

...a blessing in disguise?

Earlier this week on his way to work, Ryan got in a pretty bad accident.  Pretty bad meaning: he rear ended a truck that caused that truck to rear end another truck; the car was so smashed into the truck that they had to be pulled apart by a tow truck; the air bags deployed; and it completely TOTALED our car...as you can tell.

Thankfully, Ryan and everyone else involved had NO injuries!!!

For the past few months we've been trying to sell our SUV, with no luck.  We had planned on keeping our car as our only vehicle to cut down on expenses.  I bought this car before Ryan and I got married and it's been paid off for years and years.  This car has commuted 40-50 miles a day, 5 days a week for the past 5 1/2 years. Basically, its the car of champions but it did need a lot of work.  Oh and not to mention, it had well over 200K miles on it!

So now that we were down to one vehicle (and not the vehicle we wanted to be left with) we were wondering what to do.  We got our answer today when Ryan got a call from the insurance company and they said they are going to give us $700 MORE than I paid for it 5 1/2 years ago! What?!?  We thought for sure they wouldn't give us much for it because of the aforementioned reasons. And there is no way we could have sold a 15 year old car for as much as they're giving us.

We feel so blessed that things have worked out so well from a not so fun situation AND most importantly that Ryan is OK!  Now we need to cross our fingers that 1) no one sues us, and 2) our premium doesn't go way up!

Sweet deal on the car! Good thing you have a good lawyer...just in case.

Glad Ryan is okay, But you know Ryan is made of steel. Tyce will be out side jumping on his bicycle just like Ryan did so look out.

So glad that Ryan is ok. That is scary, from the damage it looks like he is pretty lucky.

I am glad that it has all worked out to your advantage. Isn't is nice when things go that way.
